I’m honestly missing my colony of white-tailed prairie dogs. I have this strong impulse to drive to Walden, CO because I miss them and that town.

1 Month in Colorado

In 2 hours I’ll have officially been in Colorado for 1 month.

In this one month we’ve gone from working from 9 am - 4 pm, 8 am - 5 pm, then 7 am - 8 pm for the past 2 weeks…

AND TOMORROW IS THE FIRST DAY I’LL HAVE A DAY OFF! :D

Side Note: The all caps indicates I’m excited, not angry.

What am I going to do on my day off? Sleep in, do laundry, and go grocery shopping.

Exciting I know.

I feel extremely lucky

I feel extremely lucky.

While on the way to Galbreath to do research, Emily, Sammi and I were talking about professors taking on undergrads for research.

Background story: To graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology at Sonoma State University, you have to complete research units with a professor or a graduate student. Then the next semester you write a senior thesis on your research.

Anyways. Emily was telling us how SSU biology professors are reluctant to take on students they do not know. I completely understand that. If they’ve never had the student, or do not know the student, they have to worry about a students priorities and if they’ll actually do their job.

That’s why I feel lucky. I feel I’m very fortunate to work with Emily; Dr. Girman’s graduate student. I only ever had Dr. Girman for BIOL 122, which was something like 3 years ago. Dr. Girman, and Emily for that matter, let me on to this research project knowing nothing about me; taking a huge risk with me. Knowing that gives me the motivation to work harder for this research project.

And I’m forever grateful towards them both.
